Help in Little WaysThis is the first time Caritas Don Bosco School had an Eco Month. I was glad when I knew that. Not only because I’m a YES (Young Earth Savers) member or whatsoever but because our school is really aware of what was going on our planet Earth. All the students were really participating in this event.
We, the YES movement, had a camping last September 25-26, 2009 regarding to the Eco Month. Teacher Carol had a talk about it during the camp. She gave the participants an activity, saw their answers there were; “Close the faucets if not in use”, “Turn of lights”, “Put trashes in right places” etc. They also had contests, cheering/yell; the theme used for the cheer/yell is the Eco Month’s theme “GO GREEN NOW”. When the camp ended, souvenirs were given which is the Calamansi plant. It will be brought home. Thought it was just a small thing, it will be a great help. Just like picking trashes, throwing candy wrappers on the right place, recycling materials, lessen your use of plastic, bringing your own tumbler and the like. Of course you’ll think it is just a tiny contribution but it will really help to deplete the pollutions around. You could maybe think that even though you’ll do the wrong thing ONCE, it will not cause any big destruction or what. But you see, what If all the people on Earth will do the same thing as what will you do, it will cause a larger harmful thing, right? Think about it. :> So start helping in little ways. We’re only students; these are the only things that we could do. BUT, it will really be a super duper mega help. :D
Also, bulletin boards of every section were included in a contest. They were designed with the theme: Go Green Now. Almost all of the sections participated well. I’m glad too ‘cause their bulletin boards are colored green, my favorite color. :> They are really making extra effort to it. I think winning is not only their desire but to share what was going on.
Same with the activity: “Diorama”. I’m not included in that contest but I saw their works. I am not really sure but I think the theme there is a clean surrounding thing like that, beauty on Earth. I saw their trees, bodies of water, cars, and bridges. I wish their works were real in the present. It would be such a nice place. I can only see sceneries like that on my mere imagination. Really wish Earth will stay like that.
I wasn’t that lucky to see what’s with the Mixed-Media stuff so I sorta don’t know what it is all about. But I bet it’s just the same as the rest but with different materials and concept. Another is the Essay, Blog and Mandala Making; Essay’s theme is “Meeting the challenge of Climate Change”, there they can show what was the real truth behind the unseen things in our planet Earth. Blog; states the events happened it the Eco month, sorta like a summary of all activities. Mandala Making; thanking nature. Thanks to them. Though we abuse them, we should thank them. We should do things on preventing abusing the Nature.
Lastly, the cleanest room, I hope not just because there is a contest, students are making extra effort in making their classrooms clean. I hope this will not end after the contest.
Help in saving Our Planet Earth. :) Yeah, OUR. Hope every human will be aware of what’s the real truth on what is going on. So make a way to help in little ways! It will surely be a great help. :D
